About Me

Hi! I'm Daniela Attia

Associate Social Worker

In my early twenties, I worked in an immigration firm helping those obtain U.S. visas in pursuit of a life with more opportunities. This experience fostered my passion for providing support to individuals paving their unique life paths.

I believe therapy is a tool that can heal past trauma and empower you to live authentically.

My background experience

  • Graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Master’s in Social Work and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.

  • Worked in higher levels of care, including PHP and IOP, for mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.

  • Worked in community mental health and non-profit settings providing trauma-informed and whole-person care to both young and aging adults.

  • Completed additional postgraduate training for my specialties in working with complex trauma and co-occurring disorders: Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP); Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Interpersonal Therapy (IPT); Seeking Safety; and Expressive Arts.

Who/what do I specialize in working with?

I specialize in helping adults with complex trauma and co-occurring disorders. I have a specific interest in working with those impacted by adverse childhood experiences and survivors of interpersonal relationship violence.

My clinical training is rooted in psychodynamic, attachment-oriented theory, and social justice. As a social worker, I also consider the environmental and social barriers that are contributing to decreased functioning. I aim to connect clients to appropriate community resources for additional support. I am committed to fostering a therapeutic space that is LGBTQIA+ affirming and anti-racist.

What do I do when I’m not doing therapy?

I enjoy spending time with my dog (Lady) and two cats (GiGi and Cleo), cooking new recipes from NYT Cooking, reading nonfiction and graphic novels, and traveling to new places around the world.
