Efaf Ghayem, AMFT

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

There are a few reasons I love being a therapist. I find it to be a singular honor and privilege to play a part in the stories of my clients.

I cannot think of a more rewarding career, one that is designed solely to decrease suffering and improve quality of life.

I celebrate those moments where I see hope in the eyes of a client, a recognition of her greatness, or a long-abandoned hearty laugh. There’s nothing I’d rather do with my life.

My clients describe me as; caring, compassionate and helpful.

My background experience

  • Graduated from UMass Global University with a MA in Psychology focusing on Marital and Family Therapy

  • Previously worked with adolescents, teens, adults, and elderly clients in different settings such as schools and private practice.

  • I have completed trainings in Gottman Family Therapy and EFT (Emotional Focused Therapy) for couples.

Areas of focus

I feel that I can be most effective working with folks who struggle with emotion dysregulation, mood disorders, relationship issues, and grief.

I am passionate about helping my clients develop a deeper understanding and awareness of their thought patterns and behaviors. Through this sense of awareness comes acceptance and change, allowing my clients to live more purposeful and rewarding lives.

I view therapy as a collaborative process where the client/s are the expert in their own lives, whether I’m working with an individual or a couple.

I am fluent in Farsi and have a lived experience of emigrating from Iran to the USA.
